Bristol Sands

Welcome

Welcome to the Bristol Sands support website

If you are reading this page because your baby/babies have died, whether recently or long ago, we would like to offer our sincere condolences. Every volunteer at Bristol Sands is a bereaved parent. We understand the feelings you may be facing. Parents’ experiences are unique but the death of a much loved baby can bring an overwhelming grief that is deeper and lasts much longer than other people realise. Many parents say that they never knew it was possible to feel such sadness, and that their lives are shattered.

We are a local group of volunteers offering help and support to bereaved parents and their families, who have suffered the death of a baby before, during, or after birth. We are a self-funding group. Support is free of charge and open to all bereaved parents whatever the circumstances of your baby’s death.

We are also happy to provide information or support to:-

  • Relatives: grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles or friends
  • Health care professionals: GPs, health visitors, hospital staff
  • Other professionals involved with bereaved people: clergy, funeral directors
  • Employers who have a bereaved parent returning to work.

This website aims to let you know the support we can offer through our mobile phone service (07970 930 513), monthly bereavement support meetings, befriending service, monthly ante natal classes / pregnant again support meetings and post natal support meetings. We organise a number of remembrance services and events throughout the year, the details of which will be listed under the ‘Events’ tab.
